The current new normal is social distancing and/or staying at home. Most places where we call homes are rentals, and this has been a challenge to rentals owners. The pandemic is causing many health and safety concerns among tenants as well as property managers.

With the best practices being implemented in the property management sectors, tenants can survive this epidemic of coronavirus. With these practices being put in place, tenants can build healthy communication within their houses to ensure that safety and health are not compromised.

1. Notifications:

Communication is key and helps aide in the fight to getting rid of this virus. Having visible signs posted around the property enforcing the 6feet rule social distancing, no large crowd gatherings, and the use of off-hand sanitizer when outdoors. But always remember to wash your hands thoroughly when retreating indoors from being outside.

2. Social Distancing 6 feet:

Tenants should be cautious when entertaining visitors and guests at this time of the pandemic to reduce the risk of spreading the virus to other tenants. The governmental guidelines are to stay 6 feet apart when in crowded areas and wear a mask at all times.

3. Regularly used spaces:

As a property manager, it is advisable to limit the number of individuals coming in and out of your office. Restrictions must be put in place so that the tenants can stay safe and satisfied at the same time. Avoiding crowded areas like communal laundry rooms or common recreation areas/centers. Placing disinfectants and sanitizers in these areas is also highly advisable.

4. Responding to emergencies:

Some contingency strategies should also be put in place when responding to emergencies. Having the tenant if home, stay in another room from the location of where maintenance have to repair will be ideal. If at all possible also leaving the home till work can be completed.

With such favorable communication measures, there will be no potential of exposing tenants to this virus.

5. Sanitizing common areas:

It is advisable to ensure routine cleaning and sanitizing are done on the property on a regular basis. Areas such as; corridors, staircases, rails, doorknobs, etc. should be a sanitizer at all entry and exit points of the rentals to mitigate exposure to the virus.

Be Safe!
